PEOPLE! Finally I'm taking some time to update this journal, but only for a reason: sharing the report about my NEW MOON experience in Montepulciano, Italy. As you may know, I live in Rome and with a bunch of girls we decided that going to Tuscany for the filming was worth a try. For you all probably nothing has changed last week, it was just a normal, boring week like others; but for me everything looks different and I can tell I am not the same person I was when I left.
Are you ready to begin? Prepare yourselves because this post is going to be PRETTY long.

Ok then, let's roll!

23.05.09 » The journey begins on saturday, my car Cleo all dressed up for the event, Marvit & me ready to go.

On the highway everything is ok until we get near Chiusi: a car with a blue police flashing makes its way and I move aside to let it go ahead. As soon as it surpasses me I look back filled with curiosity and I'm about to collapse: Robert Pattinson and his agent are being escorted to Montepulciano on a police grey BMW, so it's time for the first updates on Twitter, all while driving! Then I tried to keep the contact going at 140km/h {10 over the limit!} but they were driving so damn fast that a few minutes later the car was gone. *I wonder who pays the fines* We arrive to Montepulciano in less that 2 hours and make ourselves at home, then a little shopping and a tour of the town: inside the city hall {Palazzo Grande} we find some technicians building up the misterious elevator that will take the Volturi in the underground..

At night Marvit & I decide to go round the town, since Robert was already there, and try to find something out. We actually find ourselves in a situation that left no misunderstandings: night club with lots of movement inside/outside, a van with dark windows and 2 bodyguards killing with a look. We look at each other, trying to figure out what to do: if go inside to prove these where not coincidences or wait for the other girls to arrive. PANIC. We wait for them to join us, then we all go inside and find out it was only the party of a guy from the production group, no actors in sight..DAMN! All those New Moon badges hanging down their necks made us freak out.

24.05.09 » So the first day was pretty exciting, but wait to see what happened next. The second day director Chris Weitz literally flew into my arms. Hanging out in the main square I see some production guys {NM badges at their necks} and acting like a vague tourist eavesdropping conversations I find out they are italian and american people from Summit talking about the movie, there, in front of the city hall. In that precise second a grey Mercedes arrives behind my back, I turn to look inside the window and I find myself saying "OH! IT'S CHRIS!", looking at him but talking to my friends behind me. So he opens the door and I don't let the occasion slip away: "Hi Chris!", he gets off with a very surprised face like *Oh, do you really know who I am? How did you know I was going to arrive in this very metre of the square?!?!* The fact is that I didn't! You fell into my lap! <3
After the surprise moment he sais "Hi!" and I go: "It's pretty hot out here, huh?!" He sais back "Yeah, it is" and then managers and production guys surround him.

{the chick in blue shirt & pink sunglasses is me, leaving Chris and crew talking alone}

In these 2 minutes almost all the square gets concentrated in those very few metres, while me and friends discuss about how Chris got hotter and sexier with time. Little experiences like this change you from the inside, LOL

{last chance to see the fountain in the empty square!}

25.05.09 » On monday morning we have enough lucky to see all the cast going away from the city hall, but also the bad luck to find out how sir RPattz decided to ignore his fans waiting for him all morning. And now let me explain what really happened with all those rumors about Rob's behaviour in Italy: he TOTALLY ignored us. He was just smiling and touching his hair gorgeously as ever, but I didn't see him waving at us, not once. Not stopping and turning to us saying Hello. The good/bad luck lets us see the others go away pretty quickly too, but on the other hand Dakota was really nice: she smiled and waved before entering the van ready to go away.

{Ashley outside the city hall and Charlie having lunch nearby}

In the afternoon we go taking a look at the Relais in Montepulciano where the cast was said to be staying, but of course it was the worst time of the day to go checking..Then we go back to the main square, having an encounter - again! - with Chris, this time with wife and cute child on her shoulders {If you want to see more pictures go to Crooked smile here or join these Facebook groups, because I do not own the rights to put them here: Chris Weitz FANS! & Addicted to Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn}. We were too polite and with self-control to interrupt their nice evening spent as unknown people, so much that Chris smiled at us with a grateful look. Here I have to make a note to all those people who couldn't CONTROL themselves, asking for photos and autographs in moments like these: I know it's hard to stay quiet and don't move asking for your little piece of signed book and stuff, but it's important to remember that they are just people like us.

26.05.09 » The day everything begins. We knew they were going to film interior scenes in the Cantina del Redi {click on the pics to see them bigger}, that fits perfectly the Volturi mood! Don't you think?

We are the first to start the line early, enjoying the cold of the morning and then the hotness of the day, almost dying on the street. The queue quickly gets bigger and bigger and let me praise myself saying what genius I am for preparing some peaches for me and my buddies out there. I am the polka-dot girl by the way & sorry for all the tags, they just send back to my personal blog that is in italian, that's why I am re-posting everything in english, for you guys.

Then the bodyguard guy arrives: the great Alberto! I have rarely seen some kind and nice guy like him: talking to us, being funny, taking us some water and doing everything he could to make us happy with the cast. Unfortunately, it seems like bodyguards are always the last to know, so that all the work he did to prepare us and warn us was smashed into pieces: the actors were not going to come out where he told us they should have and the queue we formed was quickly replaced by a crazy mob. It was really annoying for me being one of the few people not running and behaving like a human being and not an animal, especially because everyone saw something but me. The cast was running inside the cars, not stepping by to sai Hi, but fortunately my girls managed to take some pics.

{Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson: more pics over at Crooked smile, plus a big thanks}

The night we decide to go to a place my mom suggested as Hotel for the cast members and we find ourselves into an awesome car pursuit! We look everywhere for the Hotel, finding out that it is actually closed and not existing anymore, but while we decide what to do next, the same 2 vans we saw previously with the cast pass by: PANIC! We immediately close inside the cars, lights off, squashed to the seats, then the vans take different directions. Basically we didn't see anyone because vans go where the driver goes, so they do not mean actors inside, but I can guarantee you that it was one of the best nights EVER. So much fun, fear, panic at the same time, I would SO do that over and over again!

27.05.09 » This is our first day as extras and the day everything begins. I regret following the rules and not taking with me digital cam and mobile {thing I did the following days} A LOT. I'll begin saying that NONE of us would have expected something like that, we've been 14 hours under the sun, standing up, repeating ciak after ciak, seeing and hearing EVERYTHING happening on set: it was simply AMAZING. But I will leave thoughts and comments to the end.
Early in the morning we go to the Fortezza to get our badges and red cloaks and then we are headed in Piazza Grande for the big scene: one of the guys in charge of the extras puts us in the side street and there I find myself in position near Kristen, just 20 cm from me! She had to run through the mob pushing people aside and make her way to the fountain and to Robward.

*note: I didn't see reports like this anywhere else, so listen well because it's really an exclusive on what happened on the italian set of New Moon*

I was AMAZED by her concentration and determination while she was getting ready for the ACTION of the assistant director: she was jumping, grunting, springing up preparing for the run, gasping for breath, her hands in her hair. She was really BELLA desperate for saving the love of her life. All the extras were 1300 people, but just small groups had the chance to see the actors {almost just Kristen} very close, depending on the scene. I can't believe I found myself in a situation like that. By the way, I find enough voice to tell her "Don't be nervous!", looking like a fool because she WASN'T nervous, she was just getting ready for the scene, but Kris looked at me and smiled. I was pretty much dying then. We did 5-6 ciaks and in the breaks different things happened: 2 fans from a window of the near building yelled: "You're beautiful!" and Kristen was kind enough to answer: "You're beautiful too". Another time she asked the italian assistant guy what was the assistant director saying as a translation of ROLL PLEASE: in italian is MOTORE {engine}, but she misheard something like VOLTORE and was pretty much confused about the meaning. It was funny! Make-up artists were always nearby, ready to fix hair and stuff, but she looked gorgeous anyways.
After the lunch-break, Rocco {Chris' assistant, who was pretty much the only one giving us directions and instructions on what to do, how to do it} prepares the square for the BIG scene, even though we had no idea of what to expect. We were basically witnesses of one of the most important scenes of one of the most awaited movies of this year. COOL HUH?!
While the square is being set up, Rob arrives on foot from the near Hotel Duomo {used just for make-up} with a white half-unbottoned shirt plus his cool rayban and enters the city hall. Excitement begins. Rocco gets us ready for the scene, everyone in position and Robward can be seen now and then in the half-light of the entrance of the building with his now blue shirt. We extras MUST be looking at the church, because in the movie we will be watching the procession and the canopy {baldacchino}, BUT in reality that's a very hard thing to do. Robert comes out the entrance, begins to unbotton his shirt COMPLETELY, pale as a dead guy, on his face pain and resignation, the shirt gently falls down and now he his half naked. In front of us. 1300 people. STUNNING.

{click on the pictures to go to the gallery and see more}

Then a voice from very far arrives to my ears: CUT! STOP! Something went wrong? Rocco takes his best friend, the megaphone, and literally screams at us in italian: WOMEN! LOOK AT THE CHURCH! THE CHURCH DOOR! Everyone is laughing now, except for the troupe of course. The problem is that everyone looks at the city hall door because of Rob, while we should be looking at the church. We repeat the scene all afternoon until Chris and Rocco decide to try something a little bit different: they take some grown up people and position them in front of the city hall, letting all us youngers sit down on the stairs with the best view EVER of the entrance of the building: they now shoot the scene with a closer angle because the square is empty, letting us see it all so we would be happy.

I really have to say that the scene was AMAZINGLY BREATHTAKING. But going back to the report: all the square is in silence, hands on mouths, eyes wide open recording every single thing happening and we are on the edge of crying. The kiss, oh that kiss! Can't describe it with words. On the first ciak Kristen is running so fast that when she gets to Rob, they both fall down! Later they put some very lucky guy behind Rob, with his hands on his butt, avoiding the fall. At the CUT of a few ciaks both the actors start laughing and smiling at each other, clearly embarassed. The costumist is always ready to put the shirt back on Rob's back and we cannot but hope in another ciak. At the end of the filming we go back home REALLY tired and exhausted, but happy as ever and with an incredible emotional power <3

28.05.09 » This is one of the best days of the week {and of my life too I'd say!}: alarm at 3 in the morning as all days, but since we haven't slept in days, I have the wonderful idea of turning it off. My friend Marvit wakes me up at 7 and being super-late we run to the square already closed with barricades. I beg the bodyguard to escort us to the Fortezza to take our badges and red cloaks since we are in list as extras that day too. So we enter the set, again, and we shoot some more in the main square, this time not in the side street but near the fountain. Today I am smart enough to take my camera and I am able to take some pictures of the set, including the HOT director Chris Weitz, whom I found myself in love with. The first picture in particular shows the setting of the reunion scene: the white panel up above and the light pointed at the spot where Robward will be standing.

{man with belly, man of substance: a little saying here in Italy that fits Chris perfectly!}

Probably you don't wanna read this, but I found myself multiple times drooling over him: he has such strong shoulders, a deep voice and a so nice butt! Damn you can't ignore him! But I don't wanna end in porno, so I'll stop myself right here.
At some point Rocco and a few assistants take a group of us {me too!} to the side street that goes from the Hotel Duomo to the Piazza Grande {the one used by actors the most} because they need to fill in that space remaining blank in the shot. While we are there waiting, Rob magically appears with a bunch of crew members {I wasn't really watching at them obviously} and I have to say 2 things:
1. that was the closest I have ever been to him, 2 metres, and I can tell you he is freaking TALL and giggling and charming;
2. he totally ignored us, all turned to him, instead of looking back and say Hi or wave. If he is SO paranoic about mobs and crazy fans, why didn't he DO SOMETHING while we where on set, controlled and with security? WHY? We never asked for autographs or photos, we just wanted him to look at us and wave his stupid hand! I hate him so much!
But let's back to the report, this was just a little vent. After this shot, they put us back to our place near the fountain and try some more ciaks with Kristen running to him. We were pretty close to the city hall and could hear what she was saying: "No Edward, don't! / Two steps back, I'm alive! / Edward no! I'm here!" And we got confirmation that once she said Robert instead of Edward, but don't make stories up about how they are in love because I'm sick of this rubbish. When the scene is ok for Chris, they let us sit down the stairs and a few mins later Kristen comes out the city hall headed to the hotel to remove her make-up. When she passes by we all turn to her, start screaming a bit {as an encouragement, not like crazy fans} and clap; she is so nice that smiles at us, joins her hands and waves. Few seconds later Rob comes out but we don't serve him the same: that morning the man in charge of the extras, Maurizio Cusano, told us that is was days since they were trying to get Robert out to say Hi and let us take pictures, but that he wouldn't. That we had the right to be angry and disappointed for his behaviour. SO when Bob comes out, almost all the square rises in a huge BOOOOOOO for him. Yes, your reading is fine: FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY SOME FANS BOOED ROBERT PATTINSON. He ignored us again clearly imbarassed, giggling, running his hand through his hair and looking at his feet while walking away. Many of you will be in disagreement with what we did, but until some journalist will ask him WHY he decided/was forced to act like that, I will be proud of myself and our BOO. He should have stopped, looked at us and said something, even just with his eyes, but he did nothing instead. This does not mean that we don't love him or support him, but it was a way to express our disagreement and disappointment. I'm just here waiting for someone to ask him what happened in Italy and how he felt when we booed him and if he will give good reasons, then I will apologize.
After this little incident we take our places again for one last ciak with the camera on the top of the city hall for a panoramic shot of the square. When the CUT is called, we find Kristen - arrived when everyone was concentrated in the acting - behind our backs clapping and congratulating on us. It was really cute of her, she's amazing! And personally I took her gesture as an apology for Rob being so distant and unpolite. I liked her even more.

At the end of the day, while all extras were seated on the stairs, we begin making some chorus for the members of the crew, screaming and clapping all together. In the meantime, the offical photographer and camera operator up on a crane take out their cameras for pictures and videos for the NEW MOON DVD EXTRAS!!!

{pic #1: me, Giuliana & Marvit; #2 Rocco & Fabio; #3 us & Rocco; #4 Rob and Bella' stunts faking the bite}

Then Rocco tells us with the megaphone that we have to say some words in italian for the DVD: GOOD MORNING! NEW MOON! GOODBYE! {BUONGIORNO! NEW MOON! ARRIVEDERCI!} and we all scream out loud to the camera! IT WAS INSANE! Like a huge party, with all the troupe and crew and assistants and everyone who helped making the movie. In the end Rocco takes the mic and thanks us for our energy and passion, saying that without us nothing would have been possibile. He then goes to the director and takes Chris' arm, dragging him to do a little speech. Chris is visibly shy but takes the little radio and sais that he is really, deeply touched by the patience and dedication we showed during the filming process. He thanks us again and enjoys our happy applause. It was amazing: being thanked by the director when WE should have been the ones thanking every single person for the beautiful experience they let us live, it was just unbelievable. To end up in style, Rocco sais that they have a little surprise for us and I won't lie telling you that we all hoped for Rob and Kris to come out; we then see the shiny yellow Porsche entering the square and stopping right in front of us, but no one worth our attentions inside.

I was actually filming during Chris' speech but the low battery left me with nothing..That would have been a really exclusive video, dammit. By thw way, after that awesome day know we just want to see the movie and buy the DVD to watch all the extra! But if you think the report is finished here, you will be very surprised because there's one more day to talk about! OMG this post is fu*king long LOL

29.05.09 » Friday: last day of shooting for us, since on Saturday we will leave for Rome-home! Today we shoot some of the main scenes with the Porsche in town. I am momentarily split from my friends and the crew-guy puts me right where Bella has to get off the car because of the mob and go ahead on foot to the square. Two police cars are pretty visible, but I guess something is different from the book because there Bella gets off the Porsche not when there's the police officer but later on..Anyway! Charlie {playing Demetri} and Ashley' stunt were seen all day on set, the first hanging around and the second obviously working, even though Ashley had the privilege to drive the Porsche by herself in some scenes, using the horn too!!
After the lunch-break, the awesome person I am, steals a SUPER EXCLUSIVE photo of Chris Weitz' director chair!

{steal this and I will kill you.}

The scene we have to shoot sees the Porsche with Ashley and Kristen on board, proceeding on a trailer-thing, filled with cameras, threads and tools, making its way up the street and we have to close up the space when the car has passed us. It seems pretty easy, but we had many problems: the reverse gear firstly. Small street with lots of people. Then on set there where security problems, so that some crazy fans from the outside were able to enter and stop the filming. Chris Weitz had a cold killing look and us extras were angry to death: those cloaks were pretty hot and we were really tired, unable to stand that chaos. Fortunately, during the general craziness, Chrarlie Bewley decides to do some shopping in the shop behind us and we didn't miss the chance for a little picture with the guy. He is really nice and funny as it seems, totally worth a little chatting. As soon as I hear him talking I tell him: "Oh, you have a wonderful british accent! It's..sexy!" and with a big smile he adds back "Yes, I know" LOL Then we see Chris walking here and there to put things right back to their place, and I take a little picture of him with the purple shirt. Too bad he wasn't wearing his favourite striped scarf as he was in the morning!

Our last scene is one where Kristen finds herself at a fork, the camera turns around her while she decides if taking the right or the left direction. I guess we will have to wait for the movie to come out to see which one she takes! The interesting thing here was seeing Kristen as she was preparing for the scene: she was listening to the iPod and bouncing her head, really cute. We also saw her talking to Chris several times, deciding together if the scene was right or not, if they needed another ciak or if it was ok for them both.
Unfortunately this was our last day on set, the day after we just passed by to say our goodbye to Rocco, still working at the same scene, and he answered back with his megaphone. We then saw Chris Weitz, wife and son leaving in Mercedes and once our luggage was ready, we left directed to Rome too.

***

This post is incredibly long, so I won't say too much. I just wanna say that what we lived in Montepulciano was AMAZING, that I'm happy I missed my class at university because it was totally worth it. I also understand when actors say that making a movie is like building a new family, because in just 3 days of shooting we really found our second home. I really thank everyone involved: all the cast for the great work, the crew for being so nice to us, Chris Weitz for being so good looking and everyone else who helped making all this possible. The owners of some pictures, who helped me making this report the best I could and myself for writing it for 2 days non-stop.
My last thank you goes to Marvit, Fede, Giugiù, Marinella, Giuliana, Claudia, Marty, Giorgia, Ersilia, Antonia, Valentina, Elisa: magic girls for a magic experience! <3
